Mindanao Journey and Engr. Cynthia C. Guerra assisted the Plan International represented by Mr. Randy Baldelovar and Mr. Romeo F. Bragado, DepEd Sultan Kudarat DRRM officer in the distribution of 2,446 pcs of books for elementary grade students of 1164 in 5 elementary schools in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat. Total cost of the book is Ph 498,600.00.

The assistance was a support to the schools who had been affected by the recent MILF clashes with other state or non-state armed group.

The schools provided with the books were:
·      1.   Kipunget Elementary School with 90 pupils;
·     2.   Maganao Elementary School with 318 pupils;
·     3.  Imam adil Memorial Elementary School with 332 pupils;
·     4.  Doña Catalina Elementsry School with 297 pupils, and
      5. Dionicio Cagadoc Elementary School with 127 pupils.

DepEd personnel from Central Elementary school as well assisted the conduct of the activity. It was emphasized during the activity that the books are work books, thus, teachers are instructed not to allow students to write on it and bring the books at home in order to preserve the durability of the books.

One of the teacher said "for the students in rural communities, the books provided is more precious than any other material things-It is because books will shape the color of their future".
